- Go to the Wine file directory.
- Open the location where you installed Counter-Strike 1.6.
- Double-click hl.exe.
- Once the game starts, select the “Change Game” option.
- Select Counter-Strike from the list.

The CS Series is available for purchase on Steam. The latest game, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, has been available to play for free since December 6, 2018.
How to install Counter-Strike on Ubuntu? Follow the steps below to install CS using Steam. We’ll install CS:GO because it’s the latest installment in the series and has the largest player base.
First make sure you have Steam installed on your system; You can do this by typing the following command in the command terminal:
sudo apt install steam
Once the installation is complete, launch Steam and navigate to the store. You should see a window, as shown in the image below.
Type “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive” into the search bar and click on the first result.
